[Smart Answers] Promotions in Smart Answers Responses
Smart Answers now prioritizes Promotions when generating AI-powered responses. When a relevant promotion exists for a query, Smart Answers uses that promotional content as the primary source for the answer, giving you more control over what information appears in AI-generated responses.
How It Works
When a user asks a question:
- Smart Answers first checks for relevant promotions
- If a matching promotion is found, it's prioritized as the primary content source for the answer
- If no promotion matches, Smart Answers uses the standard content selection process
This behavior is automatic—no configuration required.
Impact
This enhancement provides several benefits:
- Promote specific products or services by featuring them in Smart Answers
- Control messaging by using approved promotional content in AI responses
- More focused responses that align with your marketing priorities
- Maintain consistency between promoted search results and AI-generated answers
Action
No action required. This enhancement applies automatically to all Smart Answers queries. Continue using Promotions as you normally would—they now also influence Smart Answers responses.
[Access Management] Activity Logs Viewing
You can now view activity history within the SearchStax Site Search platform, providing visibility into user actions and system events.
How to Access Activity Logs
To view Activity Logs:
- Go to the Account menu in the upper right corner of the SearchStax Site Search interface.
- Select Activity Logs from the dropdown menu.
Role-Based Access
Administrators and Owners can view the complete Activity Log for all users across the account. This provides full visibility into all user actions, configuration changes, and system-level events.
Other users (Developer, Marketer, Billing Member, Team Member) can view only their own activity log, allowing them to track their personal actions within the system.
What's Logged
Activity Logs capture important system events and user actions, including:
- Configuration changes to Apps and Search Profiles
- User management actions (adding, removing, or modifying users)
- Publishing and draft save operations
- System-level activities and administrative actions
- Timestamps and event details for each action
Impact
Activity Logs provide:
- Audit trail: Track who made changes and when
- Troubleshooting: Identify when configuration changes occurred
- Compliance: Meet audit requirements for regulated industries
- Security: Monitor user activity for security purposes
- Accountability: Clear visibility into user actions across teams
Action
See Viewing Activity Logs in the documentation for access instructions and details on log events.
Changed
Changes to existing functionality.
[Search Profiles] Auto-Publish Improvements
Creating Search Profiles and adding new languages is now more streamlined. Configurations are automatically published instead of being left in "Save Draft" state.
What Changed
Auto-publish when copying Search Profiles:
When you create a new Search Profile by copying from an existing profile, all configurations are now automatically published and active immediately. Previously, you had to manually open and publish each configuration individually.
Auto-publish when adding new languages:
When you add a new language to a Search Profile or create a new profile cloned from existing, the selected Search Fields and Results Fields are automatically published. Previously, these fields appeared selected but remained in "Save Draft" state.
Automatic Publishing Triggers
Configurations are automatically published when:
- Creating a new Search App with a new language
- Creating a new Search Profile cloned from an existing profile
- Adding a new language to an existing Search Profile
Note: Only the newly created profile is auto-published. The original profile being copied from does not change state.
Impact
This improvement:
- Reduces manual steps when creating Search Profiles
- Eliminates confusion about configuration states
- Prevents errors caused by publishing configurations with dependencies in draft state
- Improves workflow by making copied configurations immediately active
- Creates better user experience with expected behavior (copied = ready to use)
Action
No action required. This change applies automatically when creating new Search Profiles or adding languages. Your existing profiles and configurations are not affected.
