Search Profiles

The SearchStax Site Search solution’s Search Profiles are named collections of search-related settings that let you switch among multiple search experiences for your website. A profile includes the following search parameters applied as a set:

Note: Aggregated analytics are available under All Profiles. To populate profile-level analytics dashboards, include model (the Search Profile name) in tracking events. Earlier data is not retroactively assigned to profiles. See Dashboard, Tracking API (Javascript), and Tracking API (REST).

See our Help Center table listing the Site Search App-level and Profile-level settings. For guidance on managing multiple profiles, see Multi-Site Search Management, which explains how to configure Profile-level settings like Sorting, Location, Facets, and Results Fields for different sites or audiences. To learn more about how Profiles work within Apps and Languages, see Understanding Apps, Languages, and Search Profiles.

Changes to these parameters are automatically included in the currently selected profile when you "publish" the change.

Creating and Managing Profiles

You may select a profile for editing in the Search Profile Selector.

Main profile selection dropdown with Create and See All buttons highlighted in the Site Search interface.

The +Create button launches a Create Search Profile dialog. You must enter a unique name for the profile. The See All button exposes the Search Profiles table (see below).

Note that the new profile copies the Results fields of the default Profile (or any profile you select). This is intended as a convenience to the user.

When you create a new Search Profile by copying from an existing profile, all configurations are automatically published and active immediately. You don't need to manually publish each configuration.

The Search Profiles screen displays a list of current profiles. You may open a profile by clicking it, or click the Create Profile button for a new one.

Creating a profile takes you to the Search Fields screen. A profile must have at least one search field defined before most other features can become active.

Default Profile

The default profile is the one that the Search Preview page opens to. Only one profile can be the default.
