The SearchStax Managed Search service and the Site Search solution both use Roles to define the access rights of different kinds of users:
For accounts where both Managed Search and Site Search products are enabled, SearchStax automatically maps existing Managed Search roles into newly-created Site Search user accounts.

This feature is intended as a convenience to the Site Search account Owner and Administrators. If the inherited role is not appropriate, they can easily change it.
