Introduction
Learn how to create your first Search App. A Search App is the container for your data, analytics, and search configurations.
Whether you're starting from an email invitation or you've already set up your SearchStax account, creating a Search App is your first step toward implementing Site Search on your website.
See Understanding Apps, Languages, and Search Profiles for more information about how search apps work with languages and profiles.
Prerequisites
Before you start, you'll need:
- A SearchStax Site Search account invitation email or existing login credentials
- Information about your platform, especially if you use Drupal or Sitecore
Set Up Your SearchStax Account and Create a Search App (First-Time Users)
If you're a first-time user starting from an email invitation, follow the steps below. If you've already got account access, continue to the next section.
- Check your email for the SearchStax Site Search invitation.
- Click the invitation link to open SearchStax in your browser. If the invitation link is expired, contact Support to request a new link.
- Follow the prompts to set up your account info.
- When prompted to select a data center, select your Region from the dropdown. Choose the region closest to your location for optimal performance.
- Create a Search App:
- Enter your App Name. The name must be at least six alphanumeric characters and can include underscores (_), but no other special characters.
- Select "Site Search" from the Use Case dropdown.
- Select your Platform from the dropdown:
- Drupal: If you've got a Drupal website
- Sitecore: If you've got a Sitecore website
- Custom: For all other platforms or custom implementations
- If you selected Drupal or Sitecore, choose your Version from the final dropdown.
Note: SearchStax limits app creation to 10 apps per hour per account.
Note: If App-Level Permissions is enabled for your account, initial access to a newly created App includes the App creator, Account Owner, and all Account Admins. Other users aren't added by default. Owners and Admins can grant additional access through Access Management after creation.
After completing account setup, SearchStax automatically takes you to the Site Search Dashboard.
